Hoover Call Center

Hoover is a city in Jefferson and Shelby Counties in north Central Alabama. It is the largest suburb of Birmingham with a population of 62,742 as of 2000. The city was founded in 1967 and was named after William H. Hoover, a local insurance company owner. The area has been known as the Hoover community since the 1930s and was a residential community. The opening of Riverchase Galleria shopping-hotel-office complex generated the most dramatic change in the city. It welcomed growth and new developments to the city. The Riverchase complex provides the location for many retail, hotel and office workers. It also generates a large amount of tax money for the city.

A new emergency call center opened at the Hoover Public Safety Center which will house dispatchers. They will move into a 325-square-foot room with 7 ½ foot ceilings in the Hoover Municipal Center. They are using state-of-the-art consoles designed to maximize information flow and comfort and minimize the stress that comes with responding to crises.
